I've been wanting to make a treat along these lines for awhile, and when someone in my mom's group shared her recipe, well, there was no stopping me. It didn't hurt that just about every single ingredient was on sale at my grocery store last week, either. The slothful side of me also appreciates that it is less mess/time commitment than traditional holiday baking. Because I love you all, I'll share the recipe with you:
when you're done, it should look relatively close to this |
12 oz almond bark
2 cups rice chex
2 cups corn chex
2 cups cheerios
2 cups pretzels
1 cup dry nuts
1 cup m&ms (those red and green ones make this Christmasy, but it's not like it will taste different. obvs.)
--you could also add some other ingredient, like dried cranberries, if you wanted to pretend it could be healthy. I can't promise I won't judge you, though.
Melt almond bark according to package directions. *Be sure you don't scorch it, or all of your wildest dreams will come crashing down. or something. Seriously, though, don't overheat and do stir often.
Mix all other ingredients, pour melted almond bark over them. Mix well, so everything is coated. Spread on wax paper to cool. Separate the large pieces and try not to eat it all in one sitting.
