I normally don't get into the whole New Year's resolution thing, but this year I've been thinking, why not? It's a brand new year, the perfect time to start fresh. It's exciting to think about the future and wonder what it will bring, to wonder what will be written on the pages of this year's notebook. I thought I'd put the first ink on this year's paper with a few resolutions.
To write more. Journaling, blogging, Grace's little book of letters from me, whatever. I keep thinking of it, promptly decide that if nothing comes instantly I must have a terrible case of writers' block, and walk away. If I set reasonable goals, even to write once a week, it will help me to power through.
Unplug more. I know this kinda works against the whole blogging more thing, but it's incredibly easy to spend far too much time on the Internet and too little time on pastimes that could enrich my life. Which leads me to the next:
Manage my time better. Waste less time, be more productive. Need I say more?
Be more joyful. Still thinking about this one and how to better implement it in my life. It's much, much easier said than done. For me, the first step is frequently to be thankful for everything I have. When I stop and think of how much I've been given and how blessed my life really is, it helps me to be less selfish, envious or (insert shortcoming here) and really makes me feel more joyous.
I'm sure I'll think of more things to add to my list, but those are the bigger ones that have been on my heart to change lately. After all, there's no time like the present to start, right? :)
Cheers to you, 2012. We're so gonna rock this.
Okay 1) I love your name! Its fantastic:)
ReplyDelete2) I am working on the same thing. Blogging and journaling and less facebook and browsing. Its amazing how much more balanced my free time seems already...although free time is hard to come by!;)
Cheers,
Anna
