Cookie Decorating 2012

Every year, on the day after Thanksgiving, my extended family (mostly aunts, cousins, and their offspring) assembles at my grandparents' house for some serious Christmas cookie decorating. My aunt bakes a few hundred cookies and whips up a few pounds of frosting and we all go to town. There's basically two rules: decorate more cookies than you consume and please, for the love of all things good and holy, don't lick the knives.

We spent the past couple of Thanksgiving holidays in NY, so this was the first year Grace got to experience the cookie decorating fiesta. She managed to sneak her first one before we even started (I looked away for almost half a second) and insisted on every color of sprinkles on every cookie she decorated.

please notice the line of sprinkles bottles in front of her plate. we had to use them all each time.

I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't even have a meltdown, especially considering the amount of sugar involved and the lack of naps that have been happening here. This probably won't last, since now she thinks we'll be going to Grandma Jane's to decorate cookies every day. I guess she'll be in for a rude awakening when that sinks in... and when she realizes that her parents will probably be the ones to eat the cookies we brought home.
